Hi, I'm Amy.
I spent over 10 years being 20-50 pounds overweight, exhausted, and completely disconnected from my body. I was never an athlete. I didn't grow up playing sports. I had no idea where to start or what I was doing so I did what most of us do.
I tried everything. Fad diets, quick fixes, programs that promised results and delivered nothing. Nothing stuck. Nothing changed.
And honestly? I didn't like who I was becoming. I wanted to feel happy looking in the mirror. I wanted to feel like me.
The turning point came when I was in treatment for alcohol. That's where I found lifting and where someone saw something in me before I could see it in myself. She believed I was capable of more. So I showed up. And I kept showing up.
Something shifted fast. I had more energy. Daily life felt easier. The weight started coming off. But none of that was the biggest change.
The biggest change was what happened in my head.
When I got stronger physically, I got stronger mentally. The two are connected in a way I never expected — and once I felt it, I couldn't unfeel it. Lifting didn't just change my body. It changed how I handle hard things. How I show up for my kid. How I see myself.
I didn't touch a barbell until I was 37. I am now a competitive masters weightlifter.
Let that sink in.
I built Stay Mettle for the woman I used to be. The one who didn't know where to start. The one who had tried everything and was quietly losing hope. The one who needed someone to look her in the eye and say — you are more capable than you think.
That woman is welcome here. Especially if she's a beginner. Especially if life has been hard. Especially if she's ready to find out what she's actually made of.
I'm Amy. This is Stay Mettle. And you are more capable than you think.
